Had a wonderful stay at this beautiful house. The weather was unseasonably warm which allowed us to enjoy the lovely garden but we still made good use of the open fire in the evenings – a cosy treat for us city dwellers! The carnival at North Petherton was a spectacular highlight!

Model Farm has been a wonderful example of staying in the Somerset countryside for travelling Australians. Marvellous hospitality. Even providing the two squirrels playing on the fence in the morning for our entertainment. Thank you very much! V & B N, L T, R W.

Things to Do & See

Model Farm, attractively set in the levels only 3 miles from Bridgwater, is the ideal base from which to explore all that Somerset has to offer.

Somerset is world renowned for its diverse natural beauty, from the remarkable Karst limestone landscapes and caves of Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole, to inspiring areas of outstanding natural beauty, such as the Quantock and Mendip hills, and the Exmoor National Park.

Complementing nature, Somerset has a wealth of attractions, set amongst its many picturesque towns and villages; Glastonbury Tor, Wells Cathedral, The Bridgwater and Taunton Canal and cider mills galore.

Bridgwater will furnish your shopping and eating out requirements and has the Blake and Brick and Tile museums. It also hosts the world famous Bridgwater carnival around Guy Fawkes Night or you may like to travel a little further to the county town of Taunton, a very interesting and historic town. Weston Super-Mare has all the usual seaside attractions with its newly rebuilt pier, aquarium and an annual sand sculpture festival.

There are many opportunities for walks for all abilities on the many designated footpaths, to name just a few The Coleridge Way, town heritage trails or The River Parrett trail which runs very close to the farm or perhaps the 30 minute walk across fields to Cannington with its 4 pubs, walled gardens and golf course.

For steam train enthusiasts there are regular trips from Bishops Lydeard to the seaside town of Minehead or stop off at any of the 10 different stations all with their own charm.

You can enjoy your stay in comfort and style in the rural idyll of Model Farm.
