Visitors Book

This is an ideal place for a family get together, with spacious rooms and a safe garden for the 'tots'. We were made to feel very welcome and find out hosts kind, thoughtful & generous. Despite the November weather the house is warm and Dave kindly kept us supplied with firewood. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we hope to be back in the future.

Welcome to Model Farm

Model Farm Country House offers 1 or 2 self-catering apartments for 3-15 people in Somerset.

The house consists of an imposing Victorian front addition to a 17th century farmhouse. The self catering apartments consists of the south facing Victorian front and the more rustic Cider Barn. The Victorian apartment retains most of the original features such as, high moulded ceilings, marble fireplaces and wooden floors. The Period furniture matches the Victorian features although a modern kitchen and facilities have been added. The Cider Barn incorporates part of the 17th century farmhouse and the original cider barn with exposed beams and slate floors.

2010 was our first year of business. Since then we have opened the Cider Barn and have been continually improving the house and grounds. We had a surprisingly high number of bookings through 2011 and expect this to continue through 2012, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Self Catering Somerset

Whilst in a rural setting Model Farm is only 8 minutes from the centre of Bridgwater, close to the coast, Quantock Hills, and the towns of Taunton, Glastonbury and Wells. There are many footpaths in the area that can be accessed from the farm, the Parrett Way passes nearby and the village of Cannington with its Church, walled garden, shops and pubs is a pleasant walk.

There are many gardens open to the public, Cannington, Hestercombe, Cothay and Barrington to name a few.

Those with an interest in history have plenty of museums to visit including King John's Hunting Lodge and Admiral Blake's Museum. Visit the caves at Cheddar Gorge or Wookey Hole. The bird life on the levels is renowned, as are the potters and basket weavers. A visit to Somerset would not be complete without tasting the local wines and ciders
